This year’s guest speaker is Hong Kong-based James Chu, also known as the “Father of Chinese McDonalds”, for he opened the first McDonald in China in 1990.

In Chu’s message, he shared some very interesting stories with the guests that night. He said that McDonald’s signboard has a net worth of 30 billion USD, but that of SOBEM’s is priceless because its mission is for God’s kingdom.

In 1990, Chu opened the first McDonald branch in Shenzhen, China. Today, there are more than 800 branches in China. Despite his success, he was faced with a sudden illness that caused him to reflect on the questions in life, which was when he decided to drop everything and focus on preaching the gospel.

“Because whoever has been given more, more will be demanded from him; I deeply believe that God gave me this position for the opportunity today,” he said. “China has blessed me, so I hope to bring the blessing back to China.”
