On April 29, 2005 at Peninsula Covenant Church, a two-days mission conference presented by OMF International and co-sponsored by Peninsula Covenant Church titled “Serving Christ in the Chinese Century” ended successfully. After registration at plenary session one, James H. Taylor IV delivered an inspirational sermon calling for “Invitation to manifest the word”, which challenged the attendants, both Anglo and Chinese to do the work of God. Workshops were held in both English and Mandarin that covered topics related to China missions to help equip and educate believers for future mission trips.

Other ministries and Christian professional organizations relating to or promotes China Missions have setup booths for display to provide the attendants information about themselves. ERRC, China Inland Missions, MSI, and various other organizations were among those presenting.

At the beginning of the conference, OMF Northwest regional director, Dick Andrews, introduced the mission purpose of OMF - “Glorify God by mobilizing prayer, people, and provision for the urgent evangelization of East Asia’s un-reached people’s groups.”

Following the brief introduction, Luke Lee, who has studied at Moody Bible-School and Fuller Seminary to receive training and went on Mission trips with OMF International to various countries, gave a testimony on how God gave him a dream that surpassed his past dreams of building a house for himself and his family.

“Luke, do not have content with this mediocrity dream of yours. Come with me and built this house where the builder is our Lord Jesus Christ.” He said that these words are spoken to him by the Lord.

During Plenary session 1, Jamie Taylor IV of OMF, who is the great-grandson of Hudson Taylor, gave an inspirational sermon focusing on the Lord’s command to his disciples and the sense of urgency of missions, and the ability to manifest the love of God, which can transform and make a difference in a person’s life, through obedience.

“There are millions called by the Lord, and we are to stand in the middle,” states Jamie Taylor IV.

Furthermore, he gave an interesting fact about the hope of missions in China. “If for every second 40 Chinese were to walk across the stage in front of where he stood, then it would only take 360 days for the entire Chinese population to be evangelized,” he said.

He concluded his sermon stating, “Let the work of God be manifested.”
