Feb 27, 2003 12:02 PM EST

LOUISVILLE - As part of its strategy for "Renewing the Commitment" to its mission in higher education, the Presbyterian Church (USA) is seeking 5-10 campus ministry interns to spend the 2003-2004 academic year serving with existing PC(USA) campus ministries in the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic (which encompasses the states of Delaware, Maryland, North, Carolina and Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia).

Applications will be accepted until March 20. Forms are available on the web at www.pcusa.org/highereduction.

The program is seeking candidates with a strong background in a PC(USA)-related collegiate ministry, including campus- and church-based programs.

Interns will be expected to raise about half the money needed for the program - about $8,000. They will be given a $1,000 seed money grant to help them start their fund-raising efforts.

In addition, interns will receive a stipend of $600 per month and financial assistance to get to and from their internship site. Grants will also be available to help offset student loan debt expenses during the internship year.

The local ministry will provide housing, insurance, and possibly some support for food allowance as well as administrative support and supervision.

Application deadline for internship program is March 20.
