More than 12,000 men attended the two-day Promise Keepers event in San Antonio on August 28. It was the 11th of 18 conferences of the season.

Austin-based Salvador, one of the hottest bands in contemporary Christian music, opened the conference on Friday night with a special concert. The SBC Center in San Antonio was filled with grace and joy as nearly 500 men made new professions of faith and many more promised to dedicate their lives to Jesus.

NBA legend David Robinson further extended the spiritual atmosphere in the stadium when he opened the conference with a word of prayer on Saturday. The event continued with a sensational speech of conservative comedian Brad Stine who commented that God put the right man from Texas in the White House when America was attacked on 9/11. Explaining the history of the US, Stine told the audience that the country originates from the Puritans who were looking for God. For that reason, the US is under providence of God.

“This country is the greatest country that ever existed in the history of the world! But I don’t worship America, I worship God. And God isn’t a republican or a democrat. God’s available for anyone who wants him,” Stine said.

Several guest speakers delivered speeches such as Pastor Max Lucado; PK President, Dr. Tom Fortson; Marriage and Family Ministry leader Dan Seaborn.

Promise Keepers (PK)’s “UPRISING: The Revolution of a Man’s Soul” is based upon Erwin McManus’ book, “ Uprising: A Revolution of the Soul,”. The event is designed to help men understand God’s plans and purposes for their lives.

Since its inception in 1990, PK has significantly impacted the lives of millions of men. The revolution continues Sept. 10-11 in Oklahoma City.
