Christian Doctors’ Association to Begin Annual Conference on Bioethics

The largest faith-based doctor organization, the Christian Medical and Dental Associations, will begin its weeklong conference at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center on Wednesday, June 9, 2004. Throughout the meeting, attendees will debate on several topics including Sex and Reproductive revolution, History of Eugenics And Its Relevance to the Genetic Era, Medical Missions in the Emerging 21st Century, Ethical Dilemmas in Practice Management and A Hippocratic Approach to the Malpractice Crisis.

The list of speakers include: Patricia Sulak, MD, director and founder of the Scott and White Sex Education Program "Worth the Wait"; Chip Dodd, PhD, co-founder and Executive Director of the Center for Professional Excellence; cancer survivor and renowned speaker Candy Colley Wood; William Peel, co-author and faculty member of the highly successful course, The Saline Solution, designed to teach doctors how to share their faith with their patients; Dr. Hal Habecker, senior pastor of Dallas Bible Church and former CMDA General Director; and CMDA Executive Director and author of Jesus, MD, David Stevens, MD.

The CMDA is a national organization with 17,000 members who are experts in stem cell, cloning, medicine, bioethics, faith, health and world missions.

"CMDA's purpose is to equip physicians to be the kind of doctor we all want--competent and compassionate professionals who treat their patients' psychological and spiritual needs in addition to their physical needs," said David Stevens, MD, executive director of CMDA. "We want to be doctors that our patients can trust. That's what the doctor-patient relationship is all about."

There will also be a concert featuring Anthony Burger on Friday, June 11 from 7:30-8:30 pm, which will be open to the public
