On June 16, Family Research Council announced the launching date of its new radio show called "Washington Watch Weekly," which will debut on June 19 and feature an exclusive interview with Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS). FRC President Tony Perkins said the weekly 30 minute show will be a useful tool in waking up America.

"The Church in America is the great sleeping giant," Perkins said in a statement, "and 'Washington Watch Weekly' will aim to wake up that giant and change America."

The new program is expected to air each Saturday at 7 pm EST on over 250 American Family Radio network stations nationwide.

Hosts FRC President Tony Perkins and Vice President for Communications Genevieve Wood will discuss current issues and conduct interviews with members of Congress and prominent pro-family leaders from across the nation.

"Each week FRC will have the opportunity to present listeners with a program that will stir their hearts and minds and hopefully motivate them to enter the public debate on issues that are important to the family," said Perkins. "I believe our efforts in Washington will be magnified tenfold if Congress hears from the American public. "

Perkins said that the program will spread awareness and educate the American people on the atmosphere in Congress on issues including marriage, indecency on the airwaves, and embryonic stem cell research.

"I'm convinced that this broadcast will be yet another vital tool in defending faith, family and freedom in Washington," he said. "I believe we can make an even bigger difference in our culture."
