The third Stand for the Family rally will take place today at the Baton Rouge River Center in Louisiana.

Featured speakers will include Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family, Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, Gary Bauer of president of American Values and a former presidential candidate, and Bishop Wellington Boone of Promise Keepers.

Another rally will be held the next day in Shreveport, La. followed by two more in Sioux, S.D. on Oct. 4, and Rapid City, S.D., on Oct. 5.

The rallies are part of an effort by Focus on the Family and Focus on the Family Action to encourage more Christians to vote their values in the 2004 election. In August, as part of the organization’s "I Vote Values" campaign (www.ivotevalues.org), Focus on the Family sent out 1.3 million voter registration forms to its constituents.

Over 5,000 people attended the first Stand for the Family rally at Charlotte’s Cricket Arena in North Carolina.
