Christian Persecution in Lebanon

May 12, 2003 03:00 PM EDT

A European missionary couple is thought to be the target of a bomb blast last week in Lebanon. The attack left a friend of the missionaries, 28-year-old Jamil Ahmed al-Rifai, an Arab Christian, dead, but the missionary couple was not hurt. Open Doors USA officials say it's another example of the cost many Christians pay for being a follower of Jesus Christ. The Dutch missionary told police she had been repeatedly threatened during her 20-years of ministry there, but never took the threats seriously.
