HONG KONG-As Evan Almighty hits Hong Kong in August, churches are encouraged to use the movie as an evangelistic opportunity.

The leading Christian media company Hong Kong Media Evangelism Ltd. was invited by Edko Film to become the Christian mobilization group, with an aim to attract Christian audience to the movie containing religious element. Based on the message of "Evan Almighty", Media Evangelism Ltd has prepared a set of multimedia evangelism tools, including gospel leaflets, educational materials and Sunday School resources, for churches and Christian organizations.

Acknowledging that cultural activities and entertainment are very effective ways in preaching the Gospel to both believers and non-believers, Media Evangelism Ltd introduces a special theater program that allows groups and churches to bring their members to a cinema and watch the movie together. Following the movie show, a 15-minute short gospel message will be delivered.

"Evan Almighty is a modern version of the biblical story Ark of Noah. It allows us to realize our limitation through the eyes of God’s love, providing us a contact point to meet the Lord. It also encourages believes to rethink God’s commission for families," quoted from the promotional material prepared by Media Evangelism Ltd.

The main character of "Evan Almighty" Evan Baxter, was newly elected to Congress, meanwhile, he becomes the next one anointed by God to accomplish a holy mission--walking in the footsteps of Bruce Almighty. Evan leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just can't decide whether Evan is having an extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions.

"Evan Almighty" will be released on August 16 in Hong Kong.
