Does God Expect Me to Be Holy?

. . just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do. 1 Peter 1:15

When the prophet Isaiah saw the vision of God and the angels covering their faces in reverence, he saw how holy God is. If you were Isaiah, what would you be thinking? Maybe you would think about how sinful you really are.

If you have trusted in Jesus as your Savior, God expects you to live a clean life. He expects you to be holy. You have a choice. You can give in to sin or you can choose God's way. God will help you to say "no" to sin. He expects you to obey His Word, the Bible, and do what is right. God expects you to tell the truth and always be kind, loving and patient with others. He wants you to be honest and to behave in a way that pleases Him.

Remember that God lives in you to give you the power to live a clean, holy life and to not sin. When you do sin, however, think about how holy God is. Confess your sin to Him right away. God says if you will confess your sins–that is tell Him about the wrong you have done–He will forgive you (1 John 1:9). Will you choose to be holy?
