Present with the Lord

Two servants of the Lord, partners with Intercede International in Canada for over 25 years have gone to be with the Lord this week.

Shocking news reached Intercede International’s office this morning of the sudden death of Rev. Ross Maracle, Director of Intercede’s partner ministry Ohahaseh Native Ministries and Camp Ohahaseh. Rev. Maracle and his wife Linda were involved in a car accident Tuesday that claimed his life, no word yet on his wife’s condition except that she survived and was released from hospital.

Rev. Maracle was a dynamic and gifted Evangelist who for the last 50 years preached in churches all over Canada and the United States. A Mohawk of the Deseronto reservation in Ontario, God used Rev. Maracle in countless evangelistic rallies and meetings, winning many souls to the Lord. He also was the founder of National Native Bible College and the original Spirit Alive television program and Camp Ohahaseh Ministries Christian camping for youths.

Rev. Maracle had a profound effect in his preaching upon everyone who heard him. Just in April Rev. Maracle spoke at a specially arranged “First Nations Gateways Conference in Ridgeway Ontario, undertaken by Intercede International to help raise awareness, intercessory prayer and financial support for Christian ministry to First Nations people living on the Attawapiskat reservation, that has been reported much in the news media in recent months. Rev. Maracle was so elated and encouraged by the open door reception his ministry team was given later this June with his visit to Attawapiskat. Arrangements were being made to follow up with a plan to maintain and equip and fund a Christian Youth Centre there to minister to hurting youths and children. Please pray for Ross’s wife Linda and for all his children and their extended families at this time.

Following this, notice was also received today, that pioneer missionary to China and Director of Christian Aid Mission’s (USA) and Intercede International’s (Canada) China Division, Dr. Freddie Sun passed away yesterday after a short struggle with cancer, surrounded by his family. His wife Dorothy Sun, herself an Intercede International pioneer missionary to China reported to us that “Freddie passed away very peacefully, with no pain, as the family sung Amazing Grace around his bedside”. A fitting tribute to a man who endured 10 years of intense suffering while imprisoned for his faith in communist China during the Cultural Revolution. A geologist by training with the Beijing Academy of Science, Dr. Sun, during his pre- imprisonment years traveled extensively the length and breadth of China doing his geological work and at the same time visiting and encouraging Christians and spreading the Good News of Christ wherever he went. From this background of the knowledge of the Christian church in China, God used to equip Freddie Sun to be as he put it in his Book , “Man in the Fiery Furnace” – “God’s T-Joint”. After escaping China in the late eighties and being reunited with his wife who also escaped, they joined Christian Aid Mission in the USA and Canada to herald the plight of Christians in China and to be a “T-Joint” of awareness, inspiration to prayer and support for the Chinese missionaries, Bible Colleges and other Christian outreaches in China. The Sun’s ministry spearheaded by Freddie Sun has been an inspiration and dynamic blessing to thousands of Christians around the world and to the Lord’s Church in China in particular. Please pray for Dorothy his wife and their 2 sons, Joseph and Daniel and their spouses and children as they grieve the loss of their beloved husband, father and grandfather.
