The Bible Application (YouVersion) offers a variety of reading plans and daily devotionals for users, many of which were written by Christian musicians. Artists like Casting Crowns, Matt Maher, Shane & Shane, Lecrae, Tenth Avenue North, the Newsboys, and Dara Maclean have put together week-long devotions that relate to their latest album releases.

Pop artist Dara Maclean wrote a seven-day devotion based on “You Got My Attention,” which was released in July of 2011. In day one, Maclean reflects on the love of God the Father displayed in the story of The Prodigal Son (see Luke 15:11-31). Says Maclean, “When we ‘taste and see’ real love, we will forever be spoiled to the things of this world and our life will declare, ‘I’m Yours forever, my Love.’”

Christian rapper Lecrae released “Gravity” in January of this year. His first devotion on the Bible App points readers to Ecclesiastes 1:9, where we are reminded of the redundancy of life: “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun” (English Standard Version).

Lecrae expounds, “We, outside of a relationship with Jesus Who satisfies our deepest longings, are left to a redundant existence. Were it not for faith in another life to come, we’d have no hope but to look for contentment in power, pleasure, or possessions, only to never find it. Life seems very worthless under the sun, unless your worth is found in the Son.”

The Bible Application is available in the iTunes App Store, or can be found at www.Bible.com.
