Apple Unveils Gold iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C Release Date, Colors, Price

Apple unveiled its new flagship iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C on Tuesday, September 10 at the keynote event at the company's headquarter in Cupertino, California.  

The iPhone 5S includes updated components, comes in three colors, black, silver and gold. It has a 4-inch disaply and includes a fingerprint sensor known as "Touch Id" to unlock the device. It will retail for $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB, or $399 for 64GB, all with a contract.

Apple senior vice president Phil Schiller says the iPhone 5S's CPU performs 40 times faster than the original iPhone. The new iPhone will also include a brand new chip called the M7, which is said to continuously measure motion data. The chip supports the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass.

The cheaper version of the phone, known as the iPhone 5C, also has a 4-inch disaply. It will come in several new colors, including green, gray, light blue, pink and yellow. It will have a steel frame, but a plastic case. The iPhone 5C will retail for $99 for 16 GB on a two-year contract and $199 for 32 GB.

The devices will be available in stores on September 20, with pre-orders starting on September 13.

As the iPhone 5 is going away, the iPhone 4S will be available for free with a two-year contract.
