Detroit Tigers' Torii Hunter is congratulated by Austin Jackson after Hunter scored in the second inning after scoring on a single by Miguel Cabrera during Game 4 of the American League baseball championship series Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, in Detroit.

Detroit manager Jim Leyland dropped outfielder Austin Jackson in Game 4 from the starting spot to eight in the order, making Torii Hunter the lead and Miguel Cabrera hitting second, according to Associated Press. He hoped to relax the slumping Detroit outfielder, which did its trick.

Jackson's first plate appearance came with the bases loaded. He walked after four ball pitches, and the Tigers eventually scored five with the first coming home on Jackson's walk in the second inning. Detroit continued the momentum and beat the Boston Red Sox 7-3 on Wednesday night to event the American League Championship Series at 2-2.

Torii Hunter had a two-run double and Miguel Cabrera drove in two runs.

Detroit's pitcher Doug Fister allowed a run in six innings, and the team's starting pitchers have yielded only three runs in 27 ALCS innings, striking out 42.

Game 5 features Tigers' Anibal Sanchez and Boston's Jon Lester in a rematch of Game 1, which Detroit won 1-0.

While both teams in the ALCS up until Game 3 have allowed few homecomings, the shakeup in starting batting lineup in Game 4 seemed to have changed Detroit's mindsets.

Meanwhile, Red Sox manager John Farrell told reporters that the team will maintain a "constant approach with the lineup and not creating further uncertainty," according to ESPN.
