Rafael Nadal of Spain (L) and Novak Djokovic of Serbia pose before the start of their men's singles final match during the French Open tennis tournament at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris June 11, 2012.

This match is the 39th time, an Open Era record, that the two players are facing off in their careers, with Nadal holding 22-16 lead against Djokovic, who won the 2008 and 2012 championship. This is only the fifth all-Top 2 final in the 44-year history of the year-end tournament, according to ATP World Tours.

So far this year, Djokovic, the 26-year-old Serbian, has now won 21 matches in a row and has won six titles from nine finals this season. Both players come into the final with 4-0 records in this year's tournaments, and this is the first time since 2010 both finalists are undefeated coming into the championship match.

The winner of today's showdown will receive $1,923,000 and 1,500 Emirates ATP Ranking points, and the runner-up $1,013,000 and 1,000 Emirates ATP Ranking points. Thus, what's at stake are the $910,000 for winning titles and 500 Emirates ATP points.

The game is expected to be of high-intensity and both players are vying to finish off this year's tournament with the title.

"We both have had great seasons, especially him," said Djokovic, according to ATP World Tours. "He finishes No. 1 in the world deservedly. Of course, whenever we play each other, it's huge challenge and we both want to win. This is the probably the most competitive tournament that we have after [the] Grand Slams in our sport, and we want to crown this season in the best possible way and end it with a title.

"Of course, [there is] no clear favourite in the final tomorrow. It's always expected that we [will] go the distance."
