Amazon is selling both videogames at $39.99 plus free shipping, and will not be releasing titles until December 31, 2014. This information clashes with that provided by Nintendo, which announced the release date as taking place in November. The reason for this discrepancy remains a mystery.
Both games are essentially remakes of the Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire videogame that was released over ten years ago for the Game Boy Advance. Major improvements include overhauled graphics, and the introduction of mega-evolutions in the gameplay. In short, the game is being optimized for the 3DS platform.
Gameplay remains relatively the same, and the goal is for players is to capture all of the Pokémon in the game. Set on the virtual island of Hoenn, player will come across original as well as third-generation Pokémon types.
The trailer for the Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire reboot was first revealed earlier in May. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will be released at the same time as opposed to launch-by-installment.
