Assassin's Creed: Unity is coming this fall with evidence suggesting a possible release date within November 2014.

With E3 2014 kicking off next Tuesday, there is much speculation that Ubisoft will be announcing the exact launch date of the latest installment in the Assassin's Creed universe. Often referred to as 'Assassin's Creed 5' by fans, the game is set around 1789 at the height of the historic French Revolution. This time players take command of an assassin named Arno, as he battles his way through Knights Templars on the streets of Paris.

A tantalizing glimpse of the new assassin was revealed in an image posted on Ubisoft' official blog showing Arno holding the letters 'E3'. The photo implies that Ubisoft may be revealing more 'Assassin's Creed 5' information at the upcoming E3 2014 conference. It is quite possible that gameplay footage may be featured as well.

"2014 is the most exciting year the gaming industry has seen in a while. At E3, we can't wait to share our vision for the future of gaming," said Ubisoft co-founder and CEO, Yves Guillemot. "Ubisoft teams have fully embraced this new generation and will demonstrate how they are bringing breakthrough innovations to our beloved franchises in order to offer players the most original and memorable gaming experiences."

Not much detail or backstory has been revealed about the mysterious French assassin, apart from an official Ubisoft teaser trailer that was released way back in March:

The trailer shows a cloaked assassin standing high on the rooftop overlooking a public execution complete with guillotine and jeering crowd -- images expected from any portrayal of this bloody period in French history.

As past teasers indicate, the trailer's content is more likely promoting the game's concept rather than revealing actual plot details. Of greater importance though, the trailer cryptically announces the game to be ready for the Holidays 2014. So far, Ubisoft has not confirmed an exact launch date for Assassin's Creed: Unity. Even so, this has not stopped the rumor mill from speculating a possible release date.

Earlier in April, Gamingbolt claimed that Ubisoft will be releasing the book, "Assassin's Creed: Unity - The Abstergo Industries Employee Handbook" on November 4. In the Assassin's Creed universe, Abstergo Industries is the modern-day front for the Templars. The impending book release suggests the possibility that Ubisoft will be releasing Assassin's Creed 5 in November, which happens to coincide with Christmas shopping season.

Still, game release dates have been delayed in the past. So, fans of the series will ultimately have to wait and see what Ubisoft decides to confirm at the upcoming E3 2014 conference. The series' developers are planning to make Assassin's Creed 5 available on the next-gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles, as well as the PC.
