"Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson's nephew, 36-year-old Republican Zach Dasher, plans to run for the 5th District seat in Louisiana's House of Representatives this November. "I want to help restore America to what she once was - a nation that builds freedom and prosperity on the anchor of God," Dasher told The News-Star. He also says he supports a constitutional amendment which would require congress to balance the country's budget, and that he opposes abortion.

Zach Dasher is the son of Phil and Uncle Si Robertson's sister, Jan. He met with the 'Duck Dynasty' family at Al Robertson's house to pray about his candidacy recently, and says he expects to involve the family more during his campaign. "We got our bellies full and then we sat around in a big circle and then we prayed ... the family was really excited," Dasher says.

Dasher laments that much of our congress operates without regard for the Lord. "What I see in Washington, D.C., is no God. There is no God. The elite political class thinks they can be running our lives," he says - "I think there's a vacuum in D.C. of people who understand where rights come from. Rights don't come from men. They come from God." Though he has never run for election before, he hopes to represent his district in a way that honors the Lord.

Dasher hopes to fill the seat of Vance McAllister, the current House representative whose extra-marital affair was exposed in April.
