Sony Gives Away Free PS4, PS3, PS Vita Games in August

Sony is giving away six free games for Playstation Plus subscribers, according to a recent announcement on the official Playstation blog. The games will soon be available through the Playstation Store.

Playstation 4

PS4 owners with an account will get two puzzle games that include Fez and Road Not Taken.

Fez is a 2D game set in a 3D-universe. The premise of the game is about Gomez, who gets a red fez that gives him the revelation that his world is in 3D. Once that happens, players can rotate Gomez's world 90 degrees to the left or right, giving an impression of three-dimension. The independent game proved such a success that it was prominently featured in the 2012 documentary Indie Game: The Movie.

In Road Not Taken, players take control of a ranger who travels into a dark foreboding forest to rescue children in a particularly harsh snowstorm. Actions taken by the player will ultimately affect the story, determining how the ranger will be treated by characters in the game.

Playstation 3

Playstation Plus members who have the PS3 will get two games as well. They include Crysis 3 and Proteus.

In many respects, Crysis 3 is one of the best games from the last-generation console. Despite its age, the open sandbox first-person shooter still has excellent graphics and hours of great gameplay. Those who are familiar with the game will recall the awesome Predator Bow that Prophet uses to take down enemies silently.

Proteus is an open world game that has players exploring an island while listening to a dramatic soundtrack. Each experience is unique because the game changes the layout of the island each time. The hills, trees, and rocks are arranged in a pixel art style.

Playstation Vita

The games Dragon's Crown and Metrico will be available to those who bought the PS Vita.

Dragon's Crown is a fantasy role-playing game that is arranged in a two-dimensional, side-scrolling layout. The movements are just like from the traditional arcade games with characters moving up-and-down the foreground, or across to the next background. Each game can host up to six players who will do battle with deadly monsters.

Metrico is a mind-bending game that has players running across a world made entirely of business charts and graphs. Hence, it is easier to understand this game by watching the gameplay trailer itself. The game is scheduled for release on Aug. 5, and will come free to Playstation Plus subscribers.
