The Bills lost 17-13 to the New York Giants in the Hall of Fame Preseason opener. Quarterback Ryan Nassab threw 139 yards, Andre Williams rushed for 48 yards, and Corey Washington had 73 receiving yards.

In 2013 overall NFL Rankings, the Bills finished 28th overall in passing yards (193.9 yds) and 2nd overall in rushing yards (144.2 yds). Their defense were ranked 4th in passing yards allowed at 204.4 yards and 28ths in rushing yards allowed (128.9 yards.)

Among the 6-10 overall game stats in 2013, Bills had 3-3 vs AFC East and 5-7 vs AFC. Their team leaders were quarterback EJ Manuel, who had 1972 pass yards, running back C.J. Spiller, who had 933 rush yards, and tight end Scott Chandler, who had 655 receiving yards.

The Panthers ended their 2013 Season with an overall record of 12-4 (5-1 in NFC South and 9-3 in NFC). They were ranked 29th overall in passing yards (190.2) and 11th overall in rushing yards (126.6 yards).

Carolina was the top defensive team last season. They were ranked 6th overall in passing yards allowed (214.3 yards) and 2nd overall in rushing yards allowed (86.9 yards).

Panthers team leaders were quarterback Cam Newton, who led with 3,370 passing yards, and running back DeAngelo Williams, who had 843 rushing yards, and tight end Greg Olsen, who had 816 yards.

According to ESPN.com, Newton may not play on Friday night's preseason opener for the team, and he did not participate in team drills on Thursday. The quarterback just had a surgery to his left ankle in March, and he went through a series of tests before leaving the field in a golf cart halfway through practice.

While Newton believes he will play, but he will stick to what his coach and his head trainer are asking him to do. Meanwhile, quarterback Derek Anderson has been doing most of the snaps with the first team.
