Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update for HTC One M8 (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T)

With HTC aggressively pushing out the Android 4.4.3 KitKat for the One M8, consumers will soon see the software arriving at various U.S. carriers.

Unlike its competitors, HTC has favored the Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates for its flagship devices. In contrast, other manufacturers have decided to skip to the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. When Google released both Android versions in June, it created a conundrum for mobile device manufacturers.

On one hand, the Android 4.4.3 KitKat fixes a number of bugs, and introduces aesthetic changes to the People app. Also, the dialer has gotten a facelift. In contrast, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat focuses on fixing security issues.

Manufacturers are then forced to compromise by picking one Android update, while preserving elements of the other. For instance, HTC is releasing the Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update that contains some fixes from the Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update. Google will eventually replace both of these programs with the Android L, which is undergoing testing at this time.

In the sections below, we will discuss the current situation with the Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update for the HTC One M8 across a broad selection of major U.S. wireless service providers.

Sprint

Based on an established reputation, Sprint has been the first carrier to introduce the Android 4.4.3 update to its HTC One M8 phones. Consumers should have already received the newest update for their device.

At this time, the Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update is available for two versions of the HTC One M8 -- normal version and developers' edition.

T-Mobile

Starting on Monday, Aug. 18, T-Mobile began rolling out the Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update for its HTC One M8. Subscribers will need to wait patiently while downloading the update, which is said to be about 600mb in size.

AT&T

The nationwide carrier has yet to release the Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update for the HTC One M8. However, HTC representative Moversi tweeted that the update may be available in the last week of August. Naturally, delays may occur despite the company's promise. Consumers will need to wait patiently for more updates from the manufacturer.

Verizon

Once again, the carrier comes last in the group of manufacturers set to be rolling out the Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update for the HTC One M8. On Monday, Aug. 18, HTC's Jason MacKenzie tweeted that issues with GPS have delayed the Verizon launch. The spokesperson also told consumers to expect a rollout date in mid-September.
