The Blacklist Season 2 Premiere Spoilers, Live Stream (NBC): Paul Reuben Joins the Cast

Sep 20, 2014 02:05 PM EDT

With The Blacklist Season 2 debuting tonight, a number of spoilers have emerged - giving clues concerning the direction of the show. As a word of warning, there are spoilers ahead.

The first season finale ends with protagonist Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) being revealed as Elizabeth's actual savior during the fire. Red reveals his burns scars to viewers when he removes his shirt to treat a bullet wound.

Reddington is a former government agent who was at one point on the FBI's most wanted list. He surrenders to the authorities after compiling a long list of global criminals -- most of whom are secret even to the FBI. As a condition for his cooperation, Red will only work with novice FBI profiler Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone).

The Blacklist Season 2 premieres on Monday, Sept. 22 at 10/9c on NBC.

Second Season, First Episode Follows 'Lord Baltimore'

In the latest Season 2 trailer, main villain Berlin (Peter Stormare) has put a bounty on Red and his associates. Even so, Red is planning a preemptive strike against his archnemesis by going after the mysterious Lord Baltimore - who may have information on Berlin. Meanwhile, Berlin has plans of his own for Elizabeth.

"I am going to do to her [Elizabeth] what you did to my daughter," Berlin tells Red ominously. "I'm gonna send her back to you piece by piece."

This highlights the great danger Liz will be in once the second season begins. Red and Elizabeth obviously have a special past relationship, which is something Berlin will exploit. Fans have suggested that Red is Liz's biological father. Still, showrunners have been reluctant to confirm this speculation. The last time Liz asked Red if he was her father, he flatly said no. Even so, rumors persist.

Red Finds that Tamar Katzman is More Than a Match

In late July, TVLine confirmed that Mozhan Marno is joining The Blacklist cast as a series regular. The actress is better known for her past appearance in the Netflix political-thriller House of Cards.

Marno will play Tamar Katzman, a former Mossad agent who engages in a game of wits with Reddington. In the Season 2 trailer, viewers got a first glimpse of the dangerous antagonist.

"Aren't we confident today?" Katzman says as she ties Red to a chair.

"I'm confident every day," Red replies with a smirk.

'Pee Wee Herman' Joins the Cast

The second season will see the guest appearance of actor Paul Reuben, who is better known for starring in the children's cult-classic The Pee-Wee Herman Show. This time, Reuben is trading in his kid-friendly alter-ego for a more sinister persona.

Starting from episode 3, Reuben will star as Mr. Vargas the clean-cut mafia henchman who has an eye for every small detail. His job within the organized crime syndicate is to handle delicate matters. It is not clear if Mr. Vargas is a name on Red's blacklist. Every episode on The Blacklist is named after a villain that Red and Elizabeth goes after.
