Samsung's announcement of the Galaxy Note Edge last month has earned the company plenty of positive feedback that focuses on the device's uniquely curved display and improved performance. But it's the release date that has most Android fans fidgeting with anticipation.
Each of the major US carriers -- AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint -- has already confirmed the arrival of the Note Edge to their networks, but none has nailed down a definite date. But if we look at the traditionally consistent Samsung's track record, we can speculate a bit on how the carriers will announce each release date.
With the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, we saw the announcement from Samsung followed by individual confirmations from each US carrier on their various social media outlets. This is most likely the way the carrier announcements will go for the Note Edge, although nothing has been confirmed by Samsung.
What has been confirmed, though, is the fact that the Galaxy Note 4 will be released before the Galaxy Note Edge, and one Samsung spokesperson has already confirmed to ZDNet Korea that the company is targeting a "late October" launch for Korea. So the predicted progression will first see the Note 4's US release, then the Note Edge's release in Korea, and then the Note Edge's release in the US.
Mobile review site Gotta Be Mobile reported late last month on pre-orders starting for the Note Edge in Germany and the UK, while Canada can expect to see a significant delay for the device well into 2015.
It's also important to note that FCC filings have yet to be processed for the device, and these usually take place a week or two before the actual release date announcements.
So what do we know so far for each US carrier's availability of Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge?
AT&T has a "coming soon" page for the Note Edge on its main website and has stated that it will be "among the first" of the US carriers to sell the Note Edge.
Verizon has only stated that the Note Edge will go on sale "later this fall," but no definite date has been set as of yet. You can, however, sign up for an alert for pre-order and launch details at Verizon's website.
T-Mobile's pre-order page also states that the Note Edge will be available in Fall of 2014, but no specific day or even month is mentioned.
Sprint has released a bit more information in a press release that coincided with the Note Edge's initial announcement back in Spetember. While the exact sale date is still not available, Sprint does say that it will be the only wireless carrier to offer both the Sprint Spark high-speed network capability and the Samsung Gear VR which adds a "new dimension to the mobile entertainment viewing experience."
