Android 5.0 Lollipop Release Date Update for LG G3, HTC M8 and Sony Xperia

Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop is dropping on Nexus devices next month, but HTC, LG, and Sony may not have long to wait, either. Thanks to some new leaked screenshots, we at least get to see what the new Android operating system will look like on the HTC One M8.

The photos, obtained from tech site YouMobile, claim to be authentic and show off HTC's own Sense 7.0 interface within the new Lollipop upgrade.

HTC had previously promised the Lollipop upgrade to users within 90 days of receiving the final code from Google (November 3rd), but these leaked screenshots seem to show a nearly finished product that meets Google's design standard for the new Material Design UI.

While it's important to note that these screenshots have not been confirmed by HTC, YouMobile points out that the color and design choices shown are in line with what Google has already said it's doing with Material Design in Lollipop.

HTC has already said earlier that its entire line of One devices will see Lollipop in the future, with no further date given.

Sony

In addition to the HTC news, Sony is still on track to provide the Lollipop upgrade to a number of its devices, as detailed earlier this month before almost anyone else. Sony's Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3V, and the Xperia Z3 Compact are all confirmed to get the Android 5.0 upgrade, as well as the Xperia Tablet Z, the Xperia Z2 Tablet, and the new Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.

Launch dates haven't been given for each device individually, but the company does confirm that the Google Play edition of the Xperia Z Ultra will see the first update by the end of this year, with all other devices getting the download early next year.

LG

LG has also revealed some exciting Lollipop news earlier Tuesday morning with a pleasant surprise for LG G3 users. In a tweet from LG Electronics UK, the company said that it will be bringing Lollipop to the G3 in Q4 of 2014.

"We're pleased to announce that the Android Lollipop OS update will start rolling out for the #LGG3 in Q4 2014." As far as the G2, LG clarifies in a follow-up tweet that it doesn't have an "exact schedule" yet for the G2, but more details are coming soon.
