It's hard not to see how, in an age of social media and dedicated web forums where both television fans and leakers can trade spoiler information openly, The Amazing Race can escape the scrutiny of fans around the world. Even the opening graphics of the show give eagle-eyed viewers a taste of where contestants go around the world. Because of those aspects, the top three teams who made it to the last leg of season 25 may have already been revealed.
According to forum postings from Survivor Sucks, the final three teams returned to Los Angeles to complete the final leg of the race. Based on the website's spoilers, the final teams in the quest for first place are Maya Warren and Amy DeJong, Misti Raman and Jim Raman, and Bethany Hamilton and Adam Dirks.
Among the three teams supposedly in the season finale, viewers are most likely to recognize Bethany and Adam. Surfer Bethany Hamilton made national headlines as a teenager back in 2003 when she lost her arm in a shark attack; the 2011 film Soul Surfer is based on her story. Her husband, Adam Dirks, once worked as a youth minister and substitute teacher, according to the official Amazing Race page on the CBS website.
An all-female team, Maya and Amy, supposedly made it to the final leg. Both are described by The Amazing Race as "sweet scientists" and Ph.D. student candidates from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. According to Stacy Carey of The Inquisitr News, this team may give others a run for their money even though their chances of victory may seem like a longshot.
Misti and Jim Raman, known as the married dentists on The Amazing Race, have received plenty of airtime and attention this season. This is because although they almost came close to elimination once, this team has been quite dominant throughout the show so far, taking either first or second place in almost every leg of the race.
"They are an ambitious duo who seem to already embrace traveling, fitness, and adventure, so it's pretty clear they will be serious contenders," Carey wrote.
According to users in the Survivor Sucks forum, these three teams may be battling out in the finale due largely to "editing and face time" on the show. One user there presumed that The Amazing Race does this so its viewers can "feel vested in the outcome."
Season 25 of The Amazing Race is aired on CBS every Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT. Viewers can catch up on episodes online through the respective show page on the CBS website.
