Ever since Google announced the release of a new version of Android last June, Android smartphone and tablet users have been anxiously awaiting when it will be released on their device.  Android 5.0, also known as Lollipop or Android L, has yet to universally arrive on popular devices such as the HTC One M7, the HTC One M8, and the Sony Xperia Z3.  However, some of these devices on certain carriers are getting their Android update.

If you have the Google Play editions of the HTC One M8 and M7, then you should be running Android Lollipop now.  For everyone else, HTC made a promise to all its users with a tweet on November 3, 2014 saying: "We have the Android Lollipop code.  We'll be updating the HTC One (M8) & (M7) within 90 days from today."  It has now been ninety days since this tweet, and they have not kept their promise on that one.

For those who have an HTC One M8 and are T-Mobile subscribers, there is nothing but good news for you as the OTA Android L Update rolled out already, according to Android Pit.  By the way, the HTC One M8 was a day short of the HTC promise.  Android Pit also reports that Sprint lists Android 5.0 as the current version of the HTC One M8, and the update is completing its rollout at this time.

So what about the HTC One M7?  Considering that this is the older mode of the HTC One series, you would think it would be the last to get it.  However, Android Pit also reports some good news as Sprint will be updating Android Lollipop to the HTC One M7

According to Customs Today, any HTC device that comes under the HTC Advantage program will receive the Android 5.0 update, and this includes the HTC One Max, HTC One Mini, HTC One E8, and HTC One Remix.  So far, there isn't any word when the Android update will be coming to the HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 for other subscribers like Verizon, U.S. Cellular, and AT&T.

There is also some good news for the Sony Xperia Z3.  According to GSMArena, the Sony Xperia Z3 has running Android 5.0 has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.  This means that Lollipop should be rolling out onto Xperia Z3 units worldwide very soon.  When that happens, the Lollipop rollout will occur on the entire Z line of tablets and smartphones.

One thing that is going to happen very soon is that soon the HTC One M8 and Sony Xperia Z3 will soon be outdated models in less than a month.  At the beginning of March, Mobile World Congress will begin to take place in Barcelona, Spain, and it is anticipated that many new smartphones will be unveiled there.  One of them will most likely be the Sony Xperia Z4, and the HTC One M9 will probably be there as well.  These new versions will most likely come with Lollipop right out of the box, and then there will be a demand for Android M.
