The Star Wars franchise is no stranger to video game tie-ins, and one of the most anticipated game release dates of this year is Star Wars Battlefront 3. The game was first announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (otherwise known as E3) back in 2013, and it looks like its release date will be sometime in December 2015. A recent showing of Star Wars Battlefront 3 to retailers was met with high praise, and fans anticipate seeing what the retailers saw.
EA recently had a private viewing for retailers, and they got to see what fans of the game have not seen: actual gameplay. There was a trailer for it at E3 2014, but so far there has not been any one trailer that is more advanced than that. According to PlayStation Lifestyle, Star Wars Battlefront 3 received a "superb ovation".
It seems odd that EA is giving just retailers a detailed look at the game, but there is a perfect opportunity to show off gameplay footage or a more advanced trailer to everyone. On March 2-6 2015, the Game Developers Conference is happening in San Francisco at the Moscone Convention Center, and a lot of gaming companies like to make announcements there. It is possible that EA wanted to get some positive buzz about Star Wars Battlefield 3 before that, so when they did release gameplay footage, fans would be clamoring to see it.
The Star Wars Battlefront series has a reputation of ending too early, according to Gamerant. The game is about fighting through enemy ranks for domination and control of maps that are key locations in the Star Wars films is definitely what Star Wars fans and gamers truly want to see. There was a leak of alpha footage that showed both Hoth and Endor, two locations of battles from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, respectively.
Apparently, the game was going to be released shortly after Battlefront II, which was over 10 years ago, but it was scrapped. The fact that it was revived has given Star Wars fans loving the idea of reviving the currently scrapped Star Wars 1313, which was supposed to be a dark and gritty game taking place within the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars Battlefield 3 is set to have a release date of sometime in December. We don't have any exact confirmation on that, but considering that Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, is scheduled to come out on December 18, 2015, this is one deadline that really needs to me made. In fact, Star Wars Battlefield 3 plans to cover all seven of the Star Wars movies, including the newest one, according to Venture Capital Post. They also say that this is the "most expensive" Star Wars game in history, and it certainly is the most expansive.
According to the Latinos Post, Star Wars Battlefront 3 intends to give everything that the first two Star Wars Battlefront games will have, and more. Players can choose to play as a first person or third person shooter, and they can play as a Rebel or Empire, depending on what they want. The game also has a 64 player only multiplayer mode, and players can even control bigger characters by spending points.
Look for Star Wars Battlefield 3 some time in December for the PS4, PC, and Xbox One, hopefully around the time of the seventh official Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens.
