Apr 06, 2015 10:34 PM EDT

With Android L (Android 5.0) Lollipop rolling out to the LG G3 and G2, rumors of the LG G4 launch date abound.

Android 5.0 is expected to bring a whole host of improvements including enhanced notifications, improved lockscreen functions and notifications, new pulldown menu, and longer battery life. Other notable changes include fixes to issues associate with the previous Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update.

In the sections below, we will explore the situation for each device:

Android L (Android 5.0) Lollipop Rollout - LG G3

Just days ago, T-Mobile began pushing out the Android 5.0 Lollipop for its version of the LG G3 smartphone. However, OTA update will not be available until April 7, according to the latest Tweet from Des Smith - T-Mobile's product manager. Until the OTA is ready, the only option is to manually download Android 5.0 through LG's Mobile Support Tool.

Meanwhile, Verizon has rolled out the LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update to only a handful of users.  It is uncertain when exactly "Big Red" will start rolling out the LG G3 Android L update on a massive scale.

As of now, AT&T and Sprint are the only companies to have rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop to the LG G3.

Android L (Android 5.0) Lollipop Rollout - LG G2

Verizon is the only U.S. mobile service provider to push out the Android 5.0 Lollipop for LG G2. Remarkably, this development comes just as Verizon delayed the LG G3 rollout. Other carriers such as Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile have yet to introduce the latest Android update to their versions of the LG G2.

Interestingly, GottaBeMobile encountered a rumor that T-Mobile's LG G2 will have Android 5.0 in the first week of April. So far, T-Mobile has neither denied nor confirmed this rumor.

LG G4 Release Date Around the Corner?

The LG G4 may have been a no-show at MWC 2015. Still, this has not stopped theories from circulating in the overactive gossip mill. The latest rumor comes from Tech Radar, which was recently invited to an upcoming April 28 event hosted by LG. Apparently, the LG G4 may be present at this upcoming gathering. It remains to be seen if this prediction will come true.

This is not the first leak concerning the LG G4. Just weeks ago, images purportedly of the LG G4 were posted on the XDA Developers Forum. Based on available evidence, the LG G4 may have an all metal body. Even so, this information remains unconfirmed. The pictures have since then been removed, but can viewed at the following link.

Just like its release date, the LG G4's spec information is based mainly on hearsay. Some sources suggest the LG G4 will use the Snapdragon 810, while others insist that the phone will use the less powerful Snapdragon 808. The device may boast at least 3 GB of RAM.

There is even less consensus regarding the display. So far, there are two camps. One side believes that the LG G4 may possess the QHD 1440x2560 display. The other side argues for a 3K 1620x2880 display. Screen size speculation ranges between 5.3-inches or 5.6 inches. It is not clear whether the LG G4 will have a flexible screen, or a bezel like the LG G3.

For now, all other LG G4 information remains ever so elusive.
