AMC's Fear the Walking Dead now has a new 2015 teaser trailer. The spin-off to hit series The Walking Dead will debut in August, even though AMC has yet to confirm an exact release date. Events in the series precede the Rick Grimes storyline.

Episode 1 Story Predates "The Walking Dead"

"Fear the Walking Dead takes us back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of The Walking Dead - a time when danger was lurking around every corner and the thing mostly likely to get you killed was your own ignorance of the rapidly changing world around you," said Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, according to AMC's blog.

"The stakes are going to be higher and the ride more intense," Kirkman continued. "We're going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through. Buckle up."

In the same interview, Walking Dead showrunner David Erikson revealed that the will show the start of the outbreak.

"I could not be more thrilled to be continuing on this apocalyptic journey, dramatizing the horrific disintegration of society through the lens of a dysfunctional family," Erickson explained. "We've assembled a stellar cast and crew to tell our story - it's going to be a great ride."

So far, spoilers for the series are rare. However, Walking Dead executive producer Greg Nicotero said that viewers will not get to see patient zero. Instead, episode 1 will show how people initially respond to the zombie pandemic.

"What's important in the spin-off is how people react to it. It really is a fascinating statement on current society, because we get most of our information from our iPads and our phones," Nicotero said to the Inquisitr. "There have been things that have been happening in recent years... When you hear stories like that, about a guy who attacked someone and bit their face off, imagine how we reacted to that news story at the time."

Nicotero was referring to the infamous 2012 bath salts attack. The incidents involved gruesome flesh-eating behavior exhibited by individuals who took bath salts.
