'Titanfall 2' Release Date for PS4, Xbox One, PC Could be Delayed with 'Star Wars: Battlefront' 2015 Release

For those of you who haven't played Titanfall yet, it is quite the multiplayer first-person shooter game by Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts.  The players have mech style battle armor, fighting a war in outer space colonies.  The game has won several  awards, and something this popular just has to have a sequel, and one was announced last March.  What we don't know is the exact release date for Titanfall 2 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

It was in early March this year when Respawn Entertainment made all Titanfall map packs free for everyone, that Respawn CEO Vince Zampella confirmed that Titanfall 2 was "in the works".  Zampella mentioned it to IGN before the BAFTA Game Awards, saying:  "I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don't know anything about it, or... yeah. So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform."

Respawn COO Dusty Welch was asked what he would change about the original Titanfall, and his response was "Platform for me comes to mind right away" and "we needed that, though.  We couldn't do the game." The original Titanfall was made for the Microsoft platforms like PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.  Titanfall 2 will be coming to the Xbox One, PS4, and PC platforms.

So what can be expected from Titanfall 2 as far as content is concerned?  Respawn and EA have been extremely tight-lipped on that subject, but there is promise to expand the lore.  It is not known whether or not Titanfall 2 will have a single-player component.

According to PC Gamer, it doesn't look like Titanfall 2 is going to be happening this year.  In fact, Electric Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen has said that the sequel won't release until the publisher's 2016 fiscal year, so that translates to about April 2016, at the earliest, for the players.

In fact, this estimation was given at a conference call, and it could be that Titanfall 2 might not show up until March 2017, according to VG 24/7.  This is because EA's fiscal year runs from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017.

Part of the reason why Titanfall 2 has been delayed for at least 2016 is that EA is planning to release Star Wars: Battlefront at the end of 2015.  The publisher has traditionally shipped one shooter during the September/November high season, and considering that Star Wars will be big again with the release of Episode VII: The Force Awakens, it just seems right to hold off Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 won't be on display at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the big video game conference held at the Los Angeles Conference Center every year and will be happening in a matter of days.  A recent article from Vine Report, Titanfall's official Twitter account has said:  "Unfortunately, other than the fact that Titanfall 2 is being developed, we don't have any other details such as release dates etc... But keep an eye on the News page from time to time http://bit.ly/TFNewspage. As soon as we have more info, it should show up there."
