'Fear the Walking Dead' Spoilers, Cast, Release Date: Few Clues Point To Potential Plot

Fear the Walking Dead will debut this coming summer, introducing viewers to a whole new cast lineup. AMC Network has not offer much in regards to spoilers, but there are a few clues concerning the plot.

At this time, the series is undergoing filming in Vancouver, Canada. Season One will include six one-hour episodes.

New Series Set Before Original 'Walking Dead'

The Walking Dead spinoff takes place in Los Angeles months before the Rick Grimes storyline begins. At this stage, the apocalypse starts off with a series of seemingly unrelated events.

"If you think about the way a zombie outbreak would happen, it would happen very organically," Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman told EW. "It would be happening for a while behind the scenes. In pockets of civilization, there would be news stories that didn't really make sense and didn't seem connected."

Against the fabric of the outbreak, the characters have personal struggles of their own. Madison, played by Kim Dickens, is a high school guidance counselor who happens to be a single mother. She is engaged to Travis (Cliff Curtiss), who has a child from a previously failed marriage. Both are struggling to make sense of the catastrophe that is coming upon them.

"There are a lot of things on the news, there's a lot of chatter and paranoia and concern, and yet the vast majority of the population is ignoring these things and talking about their daily lives," Kirkman added. "And things ramp up very quickly from there."

More Characters Revealed

Besides Madison and Travis, there will be other characters in Fear The Walking Dead. Madison has two children, including Nick (Frank Dillane) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey). Nick has flunked out of college due to a drug problem, while Alycia is ambitious and over-achieving. Alycia has a jock boyfriend named Matt (Maestro Harrell).

Travis shares joint custody of his son with ex-wife Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez). Their child Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie) harbors resentment toward his father for the divorce.

Rounding up the character lineup is Dr. Bethany Exner (Sandrine Holt). For now, not much has been revealed about Dr. Exner.

Additional Filming in Los Angeles

While the upcoming show is being filmed in Vancouver, additional footage will be taken in Los Angeles at a later date.

AMC network confirmed that the show will debut in over 115 countries and territories within Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The international premiere starts within 24 hours after the U.S. debut.
