Mortal Kombat is one gaming franchise that won't be dying anytime soon.  The release of Mortal Kombat X (MKX) gave fans something to fight about, and there has been a lot of downloadable content (DLC) that players can purchase to make the Kombat experience even better.  Right now, a recent Klassic Fatalities DLC is available to players for free, along with a Predator Pack for a price.

According to Ubergizmo, NetherRealm and Warner Brother have announced the Klassic Fatalities DLC pack to its players for the low price of free.  This is made to go along with the Predator DLC pack, which will include the alien Predator from the popular movie franchise.  This DLC pack will also feature new skins for Johnny Cage, Scorpion, and Jax, according to the International Business News.  Johnny will sport a new commando uniform, Scorpion will have an infrared suit and Jax will have a Carl Weathers (the actor in the original Predator movie) skin.

The four classic fatalities will be variations of the "Finish Him/Her" moves from the original Mortal Kombat stand up arcade game from over twenty years ago.  These Fatality moves were quite controversial back in the days of the game's release, and a lot of parents complained about the amount of violence in video games.

There is a video showing the moves from these original players.  Scorpion will take off his mask and spew fire on his enemies, incinerating them to nothing but a skeleton.  Sub-Zero knocks the head of his opponent, and takes a wiggly spinal cord with it.  Sonya gives her victims the "kiss of death", which sends flames that also burn her opponent down to a skeleton.  Johnny Cage does one upper kick that launches his opponent's head in the air.  Believe it or not, these are not as creative or as gory as the fatalities included within the game, according to Kotaku

According to the Ecumenical News are a lot of Skin Packs available for players which include:

  • The Samurai Pack: Samurai Shinnok, Ronin Kenshi, and Jingu Kitana
  • The Ultimate Horror Pack: Vampiress Mileena, Kraken Reptile, and Pharaoh Ermac
  • The Klassic Pack #1: Klassic Sonya, Klassic Liu Kang, and Klassic Kano.
  • The Predator and Prey Pack: Infared Scorpion, Commando Johnny, and Carl Weathers as Dillon for Jax
  • The Klassic Pack #2: Klassic Jax, Klassic Kung Lao, and Klassic Quan Chi

In addition to the Predator, one popular DLC character that is also available as a playable character is Jason Vorhees from the Friday the 13th movies.  Apparently, the addition of movie slashers has been a vital part of this DLC economy since Freddy Kreuger from the Nightmare on Elm Street film series was added in a Mortal Kombat reboot in the last generation of consoles.  I'm not certain if that player character will be available for MKX.

The "Predator Bundle" has just become available as of Tuesday, July 9th, and it is available for those who purchased the $30 Kombat Pack.  If you wish to purchase the "Predator Bundle" separately, it will be available on July 14th for a price of $7.99.
