Disney had a runaway hit on their hands in 2003 when the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie was released, and it looks like the fifth movie in the franchise will hit theaters two summers from now for its official release date.  It looks like the cast is all set up with Johnny Depp returning as Jack Sparrow, and possibly Orlando Bloom as well.  There isn't word on what the story is about, but we know Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales will feature a villain named Captain Salazar.

According to Vine Report, the plot of the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise involves Captain Salazar, who is on some kind of homicidal rampage against other pirates.  Captain Jack Sparrow has to stop him, and it looks like Johnny Depp will be reprising the role that made him a household name.

The role of Captain Salazar will be played by Javier Bardem, most famous for his villainous portrayals in No Country for Old Men and Skyfall.  The Daily Mail has pictures of the actor in pale face paint, and his character might have a CG facial similar to the one that Bill Nighy when he played Davy Jones in two films of the franchise.

The film is reported to be shot in Queensland, and there has been reports that Orlando Bloom could be back to reprise his role as Will Turner.  After all, Will was turned into the new Davy Jones at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, so it makes sense that he would show up.  There are rumors going about that Brenton Thwaites (The Giver) will be playing Will's son, who was briefly shown after the end credits of the third movie of the franchise.

Thwaites has not confirmed or denied this rumor, but there is a quote on Screen Rant that gives credence to this rumor as he says:  "It's about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones. There's a curse that prevents him from doing that. I think it's about how he goes around that and tries to fix it and he has to save his dad. I'm looking forward to it. It'll be a lot of fun!"

The film's official imdb page shows that Geoffrey Rush will be reprising his role as Barbossa, and there will be a new character named Carina who will be played by Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner).

Even though that there isn't really much known about the story, it appears that the franchise is going back to its roots.  This is assuming that Orlando Bloom is on board as Will Turner, which will inevitably address what has happened to Elizabeth (Kiera Knightley).

Expect to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in theaters two years from now on July 7, 2017.  It is possible that it will not be the last in the series.
