Amity Foundation Held 20th Anniversary Ceremony in Nanjing

On November 7th, Amity Foundation held its 20th anniversary ceremony in Nanjing, China. Prominent Chinese Christian leaders and government officials attended the event.

Influential guests who attended the event include Amity Foundation President Ding Guangxun, Three-Self Patriotic Movement Chairman Ji Jianhong, China Christian Council President Cao Shengji, and Central Military Commission Director Liu Yangdong. Staffs from Amity Foundation and other overseas partner organizations also were also present at the ceremony.

According to Xinhua Daily News, Bishop Ding expressed gratitude at the ceremony to Amity's supporters over the years. He said that these support are "love toward the Chinese people. It has been tremendous help to us, and on behalf of the Chinese I sincerely thank everyone for the support." He also mentioned that he hopes Amity may contribute much to China's social development.

Since November 5th, Amity has featured over 60 displays at the Xianfeng Bookstore on projects operated in various provinces since its establishment. Amity has also partnered with Xianfeng to launch the "Amity-Xianfeng Bookstacks" to assist impoverished schools in Southwest China with books. Both programs will continue until November 14th.

According to the Amity website, the program collected over a thousand books in two days, and raised over 1,000 RMB in donations.

Bishop Ding and other Chinese Christian leaders founded the Amity Foundation in 1985. Its programs have covered over 31 provinces and helped more than millions of people. The foundation has established itself as the new form of Chinese Christian social service under imposed religious laws from the state.
