Xbox One-exclusive shooter game Quantum Break has been in the works for years. Now, it appears that Microsoft is finally ready to reveal when the game will see the light of day. According to a cryptic tweet by an Xbox bigwig, Quantum Break's release date may be announced during Microsoft's press event at the upcoming Gamescom 2015 trade fair.

Quantum Break for Xbox One delayed multiple times

The soon-to-be-released third-person shooter action game was one of the first games that Microsoft promoted when it launched the Xbox One game console. However, the title has been delayed many times that some fans may already forget that the tech giant has ever announced its existence.

Quantum Break is reportedly still in development at a Finland-based game studio called Remedy Entertainment. It was initially slated to be launched this year but in April, we learned that it will be delayed to a later date in 2016, according to IGN.

Quantum Break release date likely to be revealed at Gamescom

The frustration apparently led one fan on Twitter to ask about its exact release date. The question is directed to Xbox Chief Phil Spencer, who answered, "You'll see on Tuesday. I think you'll be happy."

As you can see, Spencer's response did not deliver a direct answer but clearly hinted that Quantum Break will certainly be tackled on Tuesday, the day when Microsoft will conduct a briefing during Gamescom 2015 in Cologne, Germany.

The annual trade fair for video games will run from August 5 to 9. Those who wish to see Quantum Break being introduced live can tune in to Microsoft's own Gamescom briefing on August 5, beginning at 7 AM PDT or 10 AM EDT. The event will likewise be streamed real-time via Xbox Live.

Gamespot cited Shannon Loftis, head of publishing at Microsoft, and mentioned that along with Quantum Break, a handful of other video games will also be revealed at the press event including Fable Legends, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Forza Motorsport 6, Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of Tomb Raider.

That conference is only roughly one day away so fans will have to wait a little longer to know when Microsoft's long overdue shooter game. Aside from the release date, a new Quantum Break trailer is also expected to be shown at the conference. Some fans may remember that the upcoming title's first gameplay footage was originally exhibited during the company's Gamescom stint last year.
