Images of a new Huawei smartphone model has been making the rounds in tech rumor mills. The device is believed to be part of the China-based tech giant's Honor sub-brand. It has recently visited a telecommunications agency which listed some of its photos showing that the unannounced handset will be fitted with a sliding camera mechanism.

Rumored Huawei Honor Smartphone With an Interesting Camera

A Huawei handset with model number ATH-AL00 has made its way to TENAA, a telecommunications regulatory body in China. It posted a listing of the device in its website showcasing a handful of images and a few details about the unknown model.

Upon inspecting the photos, it is evident that there's no camera on the device's front panel. It does have, however, a sliding camera module which can be brought up by pressing a dedicated button on the side. This button can also reportedly be used as a fingerprint scanner. By sliding up the module, the camera serving as the phone's front snapper will be revealed. Both rear and front-facing cameras are supported by dual LED flash.

At first, this mechanism may seem like a meaningless novelty. But by hiding the front cam in a movable part, it will help make the device's top bezel significantly thinner which paves the way for more screen real estate.

Huawei Honor Model ATH-AL00 Specs

This yet-to-be-unveiled Huawei smartphone is pretty similar to the new Honor 7 model launched last month. However, the extent of their similarity cannot be measured as the leaked listing had not given any specifications aside from ATH-AL00's images.

If this handset will indeed be inspired by the Honor 7, then it will most likely have comparable specs. For reference, the Honor 7 packs Huawei's in-house HiSilicon Kirin 935 chipset partnered with 3GB RAM. It will come in 16GB and 64GB variants and will run Android 5.0 Lollipop layered with the device maker's Emotion 3.1 user interface. It features a 20-megapixel main camera with phase detection autofocus and an 8-megapixel front shooter with LED flash.

Phone Arena noted that this unannounced Huawei Honor device is going to have a variant with model number ATH-AL00H. The company is known to offer buyers the option to purchase a more affordable handset variant with 3GB RAM & 16GB of built-in memory or opt for the heftier 4GB RAM & 64GB combo.

While not much has been revealed about this interesting Huawei Honor model, it will definitely be announced sooner rather than later considering that it already passed a TENAA certification.
