Microsoft is expected to launch a new flagship device when it unveils the new Windows 10 OS for smartphone and tablets later this year. That device, which is now thought to be the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, has been making the rounds online. Rumored photos of a prototype model has just been leaked, providing clues on its specs and how it will look like.

Lumia 950 XL leaked photos

Plenty of rumors have been floating around about Lumia 940 device. However, some tech observers now have reason to believe that Microsoft intends to skip the 940 family and head straight to releasing devices under the 950 name.

It is speculated that the software giant will soon release two devices, the Lumia 950 and the larger Lumia 950 XL model. They are reportedly given the code name Talkman and Cityman, respectively. These devices are said to be same handsets leaked earlier as the Lumia 940 and 940 XL, just with different names.

Now, we may finally have our first look on the bigger Lumia 950 XL as purported photos of the unannounced smartphone has just been shared in a thread at the WPXAP website, a Chinese tech forum. The leaked photos are apparently confirmed as accurate by The Verge which published the said images in in a recent post.

Microsoft Lumia 950 XL specs to expect

Although it is still too early to discuss about the 950 XL's specs, many Lumia fans may already have a general idea on how it will perform. That is because a substantial list of the device's specifications was shared by WindowsCentral.

The yet-to-revealed Lumia 950 XL will reportedly rock a 5.7 inch OLED display with WQHD (1440x2560) resolution. It will be powered by a 64-bit, octa-core Snapdragon 810 coupled with 3GB and 32GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

It will not be a slacker in the photography department as it is furnished with a 20-megapixel PureView main camera with triple LED flash. Users will be able to fit in more people in their selfies thanks to its 5MP wide-angle front cam.

The rumored flagship will be kept up and running by a removable 3,300mAh battery. Microsoft might be planning to make this device different and more innovative by integrating a standard USB Type-C support along with an iris scanner for Window Hello, Microsoft's new biometric authentication technology.

Keep in mind, however, that these impressive specs are still speculative as nothing is confirmed official by Microsoft. The tech company will launch Windows 10 Mobile at rumored event in late September or October. That is also the expected period when Microsoft will unveil the Lumia 950 XL.
