Tension is high between Prince William and wife Kate Middleton as the Duchess of Cambridge is rumored to be suffering from alleged postpartum depression since the birth of her second child, Princess Charlotte. The Duke of Cambridge's desire to attend her ex-girlfriend's wedding is also causing tension between the royal couple, reported Celebrity Dirty Laundry.

The web site added that it was in fact Kate who caused the break up between Prince William and Olivia Hunt, his first girlfriend at St. Andrews before the now Duchess of Cambridge caught the attention of the prince when she strutted the university's catwalk with a see-through dress.

The report cited a source by the Daily Mail who said, "William was seeing Olivia when he met Kate, and when Kate came on the scene Olivia moved off pretty quickly." Indeed, it claimed that Kate guarded Prince William like a hawk during their relationship and was set on marrying him. She even took a one year from school and forfeited her place at Edinburgh University to attend St. Andrews.

However, Olivia and Prince William remained close friends to the chagrin of Kate. Olivia even attended the wedding of Wills and Kate on the invitation of the former. Hunt is set to marry barrister Nicholas Wilkinson and has invited the royal couple.

This will not be the first time that Prince William and Kate are reported to be having marital woes. William did not see Kate for one month during her pregnancy with Princess Charlotte, the report claimed and it was only after Queen Elizabeth intervened that the two again went publicly together to pose a picture of a happy family.

There are also rumors that Kate and her mother Carole Middleton have been too controlling with Kate calling all the shots in Prince William's decision. Kate's controlling behavior apparently resulted to less participation of Wills in private events with friends. The Duchess reportedly snubbed the prince's involvement in  a skiing vacation planned by friends, a bachelor party, and a shooting weekend with pals.

Indeed Prince William was heard to have joked with friends that he had to "check with missus" before saying yes to any plans.

Rumors that Kate is suffering from postnatal depression emerged last week after she was visibly absent at a friend's wedding last week. Instead, Kate sent her sister Pippa as a proxy and date of husband Prince William, reported The Daily Beast.

However, sources close to Kate denied the rumors and claimed the Duchess is doing fine and was focused on taking care of her two children and raising her family. However, the source added that Kate is not yet ready to resume the busy schedule of a royalty.
