HONG KONG- In the midst of moral and social chaos, Hong Kong Baptists are encouraged to live out a life of true Christian faith to become a fresh fountain at this era.

Started on Feb. 15, the four-day annual evangelistic conference organized by the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong has set the theme as "Fresh Fountain in the Corrupted World." Rev. Wong Ho-Shun from the Toronto Chinese Baptist Church in Canada is invited as the main speaker.

In the first day’s message with the theme "The Fountain of True Love," Wong emphasized that Christ is the origin of true love and that allows believers to be renewed and revived, believers can come to love God more through hardships.

On the second day, Wong lamented that modern people live very painfully under the pressure of work, relationship, family and society. However, he encouraged Christians to reflect on their core values and their attitude in face of challenges.

"Christians should live an extraordinary life. We should give comfort and warmth to those who live a painful life," Wong exhorted.

While acknowledged that the faith of many Christians can be easily shaken by peer pressure, Wong suggested that they should always stand firm on the side of the Lord, following his path by his power and guidance. Wong taught about the life of faith through the story of Israelites exploring the land of Canaan in Numbers 13: 25-33.

"When the 12 explorers entered the land of Canaan, 10 of them reported that the land was too dangerous to go, but only Joshua and Caleb said ‘we can certainly do it,’" Wong explained. "When they have to make decision, they should remember that is the promised land. However, the problem is whether the Israelites are willing to go forward with faith to receive God’s promise."

"For the same experience, one person can see the good side, another person, however, can only see the bad side. The difference is that whether we have the faith to tackle the challenges," Wong continued.

"The power of faith is to work with the heart of God," Wong concluded. "Give up your small faith, do not avoid challenges, keep away from criticism, recover from old wound."

The third day of the evangelistic conference will be "The Night of Mission." Wong is expected to speak on the theme "The Fountain of Vision", sharing about the commission of believers in an attempt to revive the Baptist Church and churches today.
