The first episode of NCIS Season 13 finally resolved the issue of the survival of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). As the fearless leader of the NCIS squad returns to the office, the other members of the group begin to notice substantial changes in Gibbs. Not only did his demeanor and aura changed, but also, and more conspicuously, his physical appearance. Apart from trading his usual polo and pants outfit to a dress shirt and a pair of slacks, Gibbs also waltzed into the NCIS office without his typical military haircut. Needless to say, the rest of the NCIS team are intrigued over the transformation and are wondering how long it will last. Episode 2 of NCIS Season 13, titled "Personal Day," will feature a brand "new Gibbs" who clearly went through the "makeover of the century."

"Fans will really notice a change," shared Gary Glasberg, the executive producer of NCIS, referring to the transformation of Gibbs following the events that transpired in the finale episode of NCIS Season 12, according to Hollywood Reporter. The showrunner further said, "You can't go through something this traumatic and not have it affect you, and it affects Gibbs emotionally and psychologically and physically, and that change will trickle down to the rest of the team. There's a tremendous amount of emotional stuff that's going to go on between our team members throughout the season."

Meanwhile, fans and followers of NCIS Season 13 have been reading about the tension building between Gibbs and Anthony "Tony" DiNozzio (Michael Weatherly) this season. In the second episode of NCIS Season 13, DiNozzio sees himself leading the group despite the presence of Gibbs. As the quirky agent attempts to help his boss pace himself and adjust to the changes brought about by the shooting, DiNozzio finds himself at the receiving end of Gibbs' wrath. However, DiNozzio has never been one to give up easily so he continues to hound Gibbs in the hopes of guiding the ailing agent out of his internal misery. Needless to say, the attempts of DiNozzio were not appreciated by Gibbs.

"I think it's about trust," stated Glasberg, referring to the ramifications of the shooting in Gibbs' life and his way of perceiving things. He went on to share, "I think it's about looking at this family - and he does view it as a family - and wanting to make sure that, in the event that something happens to him, that someone has their back. It's looking ahead and really looking beyond the immediate and looking at the way that the job has changed and the types of cases that they face and the world of terrorism. It's sort of adjusting to change in general and how that affects NCIS as well."

In the second episode, DiNozzio and Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) notice that the case involving "The Calling" is too close to Gibbs. In fact, DiNozzio went ahead and called out the NCIS leader on his personal attachment to the case - a move that did not do well for their already tense relationship. However, it could be seen that DiNozzio is determined to get Gibbs out of the black hole he appeared to have drowned himself in and help the boss recover.

NCIS Season 13 episodes air on Tuesdays at 8:00 pm on CBS.
