Daredevil Season 2 Netflix Release Date and Updates: What Is Known So Far

Imagine what Marvel and Netflix are planning for Daredevil Season 2.  They already scored a hit out of the park as Daredevil Season 1 was binged-watched by many when it premiered this last April.  It is always difficult to top something after it is considered excellent by the majority, but Netflix and Marvel are sure going to try.  Fortunately, Daredevil is a character that is decades old in the Marvel comics, and this is what they intend to do for Season 2.  The order is not known, but here are some Daredevil Season 2 Netflix Release Dates and Updates.

The Punisher is Coming

Actor Jon Bernthal will be playing Marvel's biggest antiheroes.  In the comics, the Punisher is Frank Castle, a war veteran who lost his family in a crime-related incident.  As a result, he dons a uniform with a skull on the front, and has no qualms about killing his enemies.

It's very clear that the Punisher, who takes a very dark turn with his degree of street justice, will be an antagonist to Matt Murdock/Daredevil.  Daredevil has refused to kill even his worst enemy with the Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), even though he wanted to.  In the comics, the Punisher has attempted to kill the Kingpin, and if that happens on the series, Daredevil will surely intercede.

Daredevil + Elektra = Love?

Daredevil has had many lovers in the comics, but one of the most tragic figures was Elektra.  Elektra was a lot like the Punisher as she did not care how much revenge she would exact.  She quickly became a fan-favorite in the comics until she was killed by a super-villain named Bulls-eye.

Actress Elodie Yung is playing this character, and it is unknown where she will show up.  As for Bulls-eye, there hasn't been any news about his casting, but there were rumors (now debunked) that Jason Statham was being talked to for the role, according to Blastr.    Will Season 2 end with Elektra dead in Daredevil's arms?

Stick is Returning

Season 1 introduced Stick, played by Scott Glenn, as Matt's blind mentor.  Stick is not exactly on the side of virtue, and in Season 2, he will return for a mission that Matt doesn't want to be a part of, entering at the worst possible time, according to VC Post

Speaking of returning, Rosario Dawson's character of the Night Nurse will also be making a comeback.  A new character from the comics will be added named Blake Tower, played by Stephen Rider.

The Defenders Tie-In

When Marvel brought Daredevil to the Netflix screen, they decided to apply their Avengers formula of four different shows into one.  Daredevil is going to be one of the Defenders along with Jessica Jones (to be released this Fall) as well as Luke Cage and Iron Fist (both shows slated for 2016).  There will be some kind of movie or series with all these characters together, and it is not known how much their individual storylines will bleed into this one.

A Lot of Other Loose Threads from Season 1

Kingpin was in prison at the end of Season 1, but he could probably wiggle his way out of it, legally.  Perhaps Matt Murdock gets involved in his case in some manner.  The problem is that Kingpin's best friend Wesley (Toby Leonard Moore) was killed by Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), the assistant at Murdock and Nelson.  If Kingpin finds out, there will be hell to pay, but according to imdb, the actor that plays Wilson Fisk is only listed for 11 Episodes, so he might not even show up in Season 2.

Still, there will be a lot of things going on in Season 2 of Daredevil, and it can be expected sometime around Spring of 2016.
