Halo 5: Guardians Release Date, News Updates: Multiplayer Playlist Launched

Oct 14, 2015 12:56 PM EDT

With only a few days left before the official Oct. 27 release date of Halo 5: Guardians, game publisher Developer 343 Industries has unveiled matchmaking playlists and public API to assist the Halo community in developing its own websites and apps to track multiplayer performance.

The API will allow anyone to take player stats from the game, create new websites and apps, and grow communities around these new experiences, said the Halo API Program.

The website said, "Here on Halo Waypoint and Halo Channel, we'll support a fully-featured stats experience for Halo 5, but giving the community the ability to compile stats will allow developers to craft their own statistical story and experiences. The Halo API program is currently in private beta, and we're working with both professional and community organizations including ESL, MLG, Halo Charts, Halo Tracker, and more so that they can hit the ground running when Halo 5 launches later this month. Additionally, this allows us to ensure public access will be ready to launch around the same time frame that Halo 5 releases."

The Halo 5 Guardians multiplayer includes a new multiplayer mode called Warzone that allows players to call in power weapons and vehicles as two teams comprised of 12 players fight against each other. The REQ system in Warzone can be used to  "create a deep reward system for the game that allow players to collect items from a large pool of compelling content, delivered in a series of randomized packs," said another post on Halo Way Point.

An REQ (Requisition) is an unlockable item that comes in the form of weapons and armors, skins, assassination animations, and more.

At least nine playlists will be unveiled together with fan favorite SWAT and Slayer. These are supported with the new "Team Arena" and "Breakout" playlists for an improved gameplay. A "Free for All" solo challenge was inserted into the Halo 5: Guardians features while the "Weekend Social" playlist is based on a community vote of what to play.
