Country superstar Carrie Underwood has said that she and her husband, Mike Fisher, are raising their seven-month-old son using Biblical principles and teaching him to extend Christ-like love to others.

In a recent interview with People Magazine, the "Jesus Take the Wheel" singer revealed that every night, she and her husband read children's Bible stories to their infant son, Isaiah Michael.

Although Isaiah is still very young, the couple takes the instruction given in Proverbs 22:6 to heart: "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

"[We want Isaiah to] have a loving heart toward people who are different," the Grammy winner, whose new album Storyteller is out Oct. 23, revealed.

"Mike and I talk about teaching him how to approach everybody in a loving way, even if they're not the same, and to try to say, 'You know what? God loves them, so it should be my job to do my best to love them as well.' "

The singer, who often speaks publicly about her Christian faith, said that she plans to raise Isaiah in church so he will be surrounded by other believers: "We want to go to church, not just for lessons and learning, but also to have a community and be surrounded by people who are just trying to raise their kids up good. Keeping everything as loving as possible, you know?"

Underwood frequently uses her Instagram and Twitter accounts to update fans on how life has changed since the birth of her son. Right after Isaiah was born, the country star shared a sweet photo of her son's hands, captioning the image, "Tiny hands and tiny feet...God has blessed us with an amazing gift! Isaiah Michael Fisher - born on February 27. Welcome to the world, sweet angel!"

Underwood and Fisher, who have been married since July 2010, revealed they were expecting a child back in September. At the time, they used their dogs, Ace and Penny, to announce to the news.

"Having Isaiah...really opened up these doors, you realize you have more purpose than you thought you had," the singer explained to People of how her mentality has changed since having a child.

Underwood's devotion to her Christian faith - the other "most important thing" in her life - is often reflected in her music. Her most recent faith-inspired hit,"Something In The Water", refers to the water of baptism and life-changing power of conversion.

"It's really kind of a joyous uplifting song about changing your life for the better," the singer told NBC's TODAY earlier this year. "And kind of having that 'ah-ha' moment, to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward."

Underwood's interview with People Magazine hits newsstands Friday.
