The Los Angeles Lakers have been repeatedly urged to simply let go of Kobe Bryant. The NBA superstar, who was once the most highly sought after basketball player in the league, could no longer deny the setback brought by his injuries and age. Moreover, the Los Angeles Lakers have taken loss after loss since the NBA regular season began, and it looks like things are not going to change anytime soon. That is, if the coaching staff and the players do nothing to address their pressing concerns.
Byron Scott refuses to throw Bryant under the bus though, and even went as far as declaring that the poor performance of the Los Angeles Lakers star will not affect the number of minutes he'll get on the floor. In addition, the NBA team's head coach insists that things will look up eventually - a belief that also includes the optimism that Bryant's old form will come back sometime soon.
"I would never, never, never do that," said Scott, responding to the answer on whether it is time to bench the Black Mamba due to his poor performance, according to ESPN. The head coach further stressed, "That's not an option whatsoever. No, that's not an option."
Scott also explained that even the Los Angeles Lakers head office realize the situation they are in at the moment. The head coach shared that the roster they currently have is primarily composed of young stars. Hence, it would require time and patience for the public to see the potential of the NBA team.
"We still understand that this is a process," said Scott, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. He went on to say, "We have a lot of young guys on this team that we feel will be very good players. But it's not going to happen in a month. It's going to take some time. It might take a year or two."
While Scott and the head office of the Los Angeles Lakers claim to be patient with these setbacks, other members of the NBA team's roster may not feel the same. One of the stars, who believe that the age and inexperience of the players have little to do with their performance, is Nick Young.
"Right now, I don't believe we have one," said Young in an interview, referring to the lack of identity of the Los Angeles Lakers as a team. He added, "I think we're a lot of one-on-one players, including myself, and I think that's one of the major parts of why our offense is so stagnant."
Young further shared, "The more we lose, we're losing ourselves and I think we got to get back to just being a team, talking, and having fun and not putting so much pressure on ourselves. Just go out there and play the game we've been playing forever."Iggy Azalea's fiance also noted that it's wrong for the entire basketball squad to rely on one man's disposition alone. That is, Young presumably critics the way Scott depends so much on Bryant's recovery as opposed to honing a team brimming to the seams with talented stars.
Meanwhile, an anonymous NBA star called Bryant's performance "disgusting."
"Yeah, I've seen him play and it's disgusting," said the anonymous player, according to Los Angeles Times. "He's one of the best of all time. But he really hasn't played that much in the last two or three years. He's got nothing left. It's sad to watch because he used to be so great, and I mean great."
