Irish singer Sinead O'Connor allegedly tried to take her own life, after posting a Facebook status that she had taken an overdose. Media reports said the singer is now being treated.

O'Connor is said to have taken an overdose and posted this tragic event other Facebook page herself. While the authenticity of the said post could not be confirmed, people could glean a lot of anger and sadness.

"There is only so much any woman can be expected to bear," O'Connor reportedly wrote on Facebook. She then went on to detail what events made her feel betrayed and maltreated. "What was done to me this week was appalling cruelty. By my husband, my family, by St Pats and by An Gardai Siochana, by my son, Jake and by Donal Lunny and Angela Singleton, by my son's girlfriend, his friends... after everything I've been put through and been forced to go through alone .. And punished for having to go through since I had the surgery on August 26th. Or since Shane became unwell in March, This week has broken me. The withholding of my babies from me without any sound reason by their fathers, Frank and Donal, and by Jake and the rest of my family, is a horrific set of betrayals."

She then went to say that she has taken an overdose because there exists "no other way to get respect." She also gave details on where she is, albeit vague. "I am not at home, I'm at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name," her post read. "If I wasn't posting this, my kids and family wouldn't even find out. I could have been dead here for weeks already and they'd never have known," the post continued.

BreakingNews.ie reported that the singer is now receiving treatment, but no further elaboration has been given.

This is not the first time that O'Connor was reported to have committed suicide. Back in 2011, E News reported that the troubled singer took to her Twitter to ask for assistance on how to commit suicide without her kids finding out she did it "deliberately."

The report added that O'Connor followed this tweet up with another one, explaining why she would want to die.  ""Had to go psychiatrist for routine renew prescription etc. She says I'm a bad mum and mental for talking so openly about sex in public. So now I wish suicide wud kill me," the tweet allegedly read.

It could be remembered that O'Connor opened up to Oprah Winfrey in 2007 that she already tried to kill herself in 1999. She also shared that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2003.
