The Flash Season 2 Mid-season Finale and Return Release Date With Spoilers about Wally West, Zoom, and More!

The Flash finished its first season very triumphantly last summer and has come back to more villains with more conflicts.  The last episode introduced a character of Wally West, and there are still a lot more mysteries that need to be uncovered when The Flash Mid-season premiere happens in January.  This is what is known about The Flash Season 2 Mid-Season Finale and Return Release Date with some Spoilers about Wally West, the identity of Zoom, and more.

Season 2, Episode 9 ended with a Christmas episode as Mark Mardon aka Weather Wizard (Liam McIntyre) returned to break both Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and James Jesse aka Trickster (Mark Hamill) out of Iron Heights.  Fans of the show were finally given a look at Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) as Joe (Jesse L. Martin), and Iris (Candice Patton) went to meet him.

Wally West has a history of also being the Flash.  Originally, he was the nephew of Barry Allen (aka the first Flash, played by Grant Gustin) who visited him in his lab, and then he was struck by lightning and took a bath in chemicals.  He eventually became Kid Flash, and his first costume looked just like Flash's, and then adopted a different yellow and red design.  When the Barry Allen Flash died in Crisis on Infinite Earths, a big event comic back in the eighties, Wally took up the mantle.

So, will Season 2 be the season of Kid Flash?  It certainly looks to be set up for that.  There are other things that can be developed now that Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash (Teddy Sears) has shown up.  Introducing the concept of an Earth 2 will indeed confuse the DC Arrowverse (the continuity established on both Arrow and The Flash) just like it confused the DC universe until one of the first event comics Crisis on Infinite Earths restored all worlds into one.  The fact that multiverses are even brought up shows that DC's movies like Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice could be tied into the Arrowverse.

Also, on the horizon is more development in the relationship between Barry Allen and Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten).  Patty is a character from the comics that has been around since the seventies, and current comics have the two in a relationship.  However, most people who have read the comics know that Barry and Iris had a relationship as well.  In fact, this could be a potential spoiler, but Barry and Iris got married, and then his wife was killed by the Reverse-Flash, also known as Professor Zoom.  Of course, this has been changed in DC Comic's new 52 canon, but this could be where the show is leading up to.

It is interesting that Patty has been added into the mix, as Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) killed himself at the end of last season, which would leave Iris free to date.  Considering that Eddie's death struck Barry pretty hard, it is understandable why the show didn't go that way.

Of course, one of the biggest secrets of The Flash is the identity of Zoom, and Den of Geek has several theories.  In the comics, it was Hunter Zolomon, but this could change as Den of Geek has speculated it could be many characters including Eddie Thawne or Henry Allen (Barry Allen's father, played by John Wesley Shipp, who was the original The Flash, the CBS nineties version of the show).

More Season 2 of the Flash will be happening beginning on January 19th, 2016.  This will be the same week that DC's Legends of Tomorrow will appear. There could be a lot developing on that show, and there are rumors that Barry could be making an appearance on Supergirl
