Apple Watch Holiday Deal 2015: Features, Price and Fitness Tracker; Apple Watch 2 Release Date, Specs

Dec 24, 2015 11:21 AM EST

It's the holidays, and that time of year when we see big items discounted to entice buyers further into getting that special gift for Christmas. The Apple Watch has been no stranger to discounts this year with Black Friday deals at places like Best Buy and Target. If you thought the deals would be over now, think again!

The stainless steel model of the Apple Watch has been discounted at B&H Photo by $70, and they include a $100 gift card for their store. The regular price for this watch is $529. Customers will pay $479 and get $100 in credit. There is also free shipping.

There is also the Apple Watch Sport version on sale. Originally $349, B & H is offering an instant saving of $50. Also included in the deal is a $50 B&H Photo gift card. Free shipping is included in this deal also. The Sport version comes in different colors- like a silver casing with a blue, white or orange band.   Other choices include Rose Gold with a lavender band, Gold with an antique white band, and Space Gray with a black band.

With the Apple 2 watch due to be unveiled in March 2016, Apple customers have to decide if they want to get in on these deals before the new one comes out. The current Apple Watch 1st generation has been out over eight months now, with a recent software update back in November.

Here are some reasons to buy an Apple Watch if you haven't done so already:

Apple's Digital Touch feature allows users to draw images to send to others. The Apple Watch's Taptic Engine sends vibrations, called "taps" to alert of notifications, and one can even send a "tap" to their friends with an Apple Watch to get their attention.

The Digital Crown on the watch is similar to a crown on a regular watch- the thing that you use to set the time, but it is much more- as it allows one to scroll through their screen- moving through lists, or scrolling in and out.

If someone wants to make a quick call or read their texts, the miniature phone on their wrist can make it a little more accessible than pulling a phone out of a pocket or purse. Just don't have a conversation in public that others might get annoyed at the hearing, or of a personal matter because it will be heard by others.

The most desired feature might be the ability of the Apple Watch to track fitness. There is a custom heart rate sensor on the back that will measure your heart rate, and you can even send a friend your heart rate with the Taptic Engine mentioned above. Also, users can count their steps, calculate calories burned, and measure their total fitness with the Watch's accelerometer. The Workout app is built-in to allow users to turn their workouts into a game and earn badges and such.

The number one reason for buying an Apple Watch? It tells time!

So, go ahead and get a good deal on the Apple Watch while the prices are good. Or wait for a while for the Apple Watch 2, and get one with FaceTime and more indepedence from the iPhone.
