'Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End' Release Date; There Will Be a Delay and a Delayed Movie

If there is one thing that gamer's hate, it is delays on long-anticipated games.  Examples include Tom Clancy's The Division, not to mention Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.  As it turns out, the developer Naughty Dog were not able to meet their holiday deadline this year and had to delay Uncharted 4 until the Spring of 2016.  Now it has been delayed again, but here is what is known about the game's release date and movie adaptation.

According to Engadget, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has been delayed once again, pushing it back from March 18, 2016 to April 26th in the United States, April 27th across Europe, and April 29th in the United Kingdom.  The reason for the delay, according to creative director Neil Drukmann and game director Bruce Straley, are needed to give "several key sequences" more polish.

This is a quote from the team, as seen on the PlayStation Blog:  "Pushing the date is not an easy choice, and we wouldn't do it if we didn't feel in our hearts it's the best course of action for the game. To you, our loyal fans, we hope you'll accept our sincere apology. We know many of you have been waiting patiently for Nathan Drake's final chapter, and now we humbly ask you to wait a bit longer."

Considering that Uncharted 4 was supposed to arrive before the holidays, fans of the popular action series of games are collectively groaning, but still responding positively to the fact that the final game will still be coming in Spring 2016.  Still this is the final installment of the Uncharted series, focusing on the adventures of Nathan Drake.  It just makes sense that Naughty Dog would want to make it the best game that it could be, even if their deadline is missed.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End takes place three years after Uncharted 3, and suddenly Sam, Nathan Drake's older brother who was thought to be dead, comes in.  Sam has his life hanging by a thread and is looking to find some legendary pirate artifact.   This leads Drake and Sam to some mythical pirate colony in Madagascar known as Libertaria and in conflict with two rivals named Rafe and Nadine, who also want the artifact.

This game is going to be a success, which makes fans wonder about the movie.  According to the official IMDB page, the film is going to be released on June 30, 2017, over a year after the final game comes out.  There is very little known about it, but here is the official plot summary:  "A descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue. The search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray."

It looks like the franchise of Uncharted has quite a future ahead of itself with the final game coming out in 2016 and the film being released in 2017.  It might not be the end of the adventures of Nathan Drake.
