Rebecca Robertson, foster daughter of Duck Dynasty stars Willie and Korie Robertson, is already having the "best year ever" after getting engaged to her boyfriend, John Reed Loflin, 29.
"After long time of patiently searching, I found the ultimate gem // Jeremiah 29:11," the 27-year-old wrote on Instagram Saturday, sharing a shot of her stunning opal ring.
"Our story starts here......I said yes to my best friend for life," Rebecca captioned the second picture of herself and Loflin snuggled together on the beach.
The bride-to-be told US Weekly that she and Loflin were "treasure hunting" for shells at sunset down on the beach on Thursday, December 31, when she saw a particularly beautiful shell in the sand.
"I was determined to find the best shell that day," she said. "We had been walking searching for about an hour, and I saw this beautiful swirly shell hidden in the sand, and the ring was also hiding in there, and he got on his one knee as I pulled the ring out, and he said, 'I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you spend the rest of your life with me?'"
Rebecca said she instantly said "Yes!" and that Loflin "teared up a little."
She added, "I had no idea! Apparently all my friends and family knew but everyone did a really good job hiding it from me; they have got some really good acting skills!"
The pair first met on Halloween 2014 during Voodoo Fest in New Orleans and have been happily together ever since.
"I knew from the first moment I met her [that I'd propose]," Loflin tells Us. "I have been planning in my head to ask her for a long while now. ...I know we both want to start our lives together. And we would love to have children at a point as well!"
As reported by the Gospel Herald, Rebecca came to the Robertson family as an exchange student from Taiwan, and eventually, Willie and Korie took her in full-time as a foster child when she was just 14 years old.
She currently runs Duck and Dressing, a boutique that she and Korie opened together in Monroe, Louisiana, and also joined the cast of Duck Dynasty in season five.
Rebecca's younger sister, author and model Sadie Robertson, shared a sweet picture of the couple on her personal Instagram page and included the caption, "MY SISTER IS GETTING MARRIED TO HER BEST FRIEND!!! I'm so happy for you Rebecca. John Reed... good luck joining our crazy family. So excited for y'all to beginning y'alls journey of life together."
Korie also took to social media to share her excitement over her daughter's engagement and revealed that the family celebrated the momentous occasion with some authentic Louisiana cooking -- crawfish pies, shrimp au gratin, and grits.
"Tonight we oohed and aawed over the ring, swooned over the proposal story, talked wedding dreams, and welcomed new family. Going to bed with a full heart (and a full tummy)," she wrote.
Although excited about the future, Rebecca said she's going to take her time planning her wedding to make sure every detail is just right.
"We are thinking nine months to a year," Rebecca revealed. "That way we can calmly plan everything and go over fine details that we want. ...We are beyond happy and thankful for our family for leading up to this chapter of our lives, and we are so excited to see what God has in store for our future."
