"Longmire' Season 5 just might be the last season if recent reports can be trusted. Apart from positive reports that the upcoming season will feature longer and bolder episodes, there are some that said the popular Netflix show will come to its end after this season.

Venture Capital Post recently reported that the believed Netflix show will not continue after Season 5. "Netflix has reportedly made an announcement that "Longmire" Season 5 will be the last of the series. Though this is certainly not welcome news to its loyal fans who have worked long and hard for the show's renewal for the past two seasons, the news can play a positive role for the series," the site reported. Where Venture Capital Post got this is unclear. It is much clearer though that Netflix has never made such as announcement yet so loyal fans can still breathe a sigh of relief.

What fans can be sure of at this time is that Season 5 of "Longmire" will be everything they wanted in the show and more. Actor Lou Diamond Philips himself, who plays Henry Standing Bear, has told Variety that the episodes of the upcoming season will be much more enjoyable because they will be longer. Because episodes from the previous season were limited to 42 minutes, some scenes never get to be shown anymore. "We were previously constrained to 42 minutes and as a result, a lot of my work hit the floor. With an additional 20 minutes, we can let those moments breathe and round out those characters and it's a much more cinematic experience episode to episode," he said.

While there have been no official announcements yet of the new season's release date, Breathecast recently speculated that the season might be premiere on Sept 2016. The same report claimed that it is highly possible for production to start in Spring.

Show writer Tony Tost himself as been updating the fans of the Season 5's script. On his Twitter, he kept the show's fans abreast of what is already happening in the writing room.

He tweeted on 10th December, "Playing today in the Longmire writer's room: John Moreland "Hang Me in the Tulsa County Stars."

When a fan said he read somewhere that the new season will be too gloomy and too dark for some viewers to handle, Tost even took it upon himself to deny these rumors. He said that fans should not worry because the writers will craft a good story.
